The usual conception of death as the end of life is strange to cultures of all the seven races on the planet. This must be ascribed to the fact that the physical cover remains dead only temporally. The death that was always followed by resurrection was not feared. The belief in reincarnation passed on through countless generations made even the death of old age be accepted as natural as a sleep.
When a character dies he comes to the Ghost world and becomes a ghost, invisible for other characters.
The Ghost world exists parallel to the real world of W.E.L.L. and is tightly connected with it. It was first discovered by sidhe at the dawn of the world's history. The first-born race was expert in dealing with life energies. First they got into the parallel space occasionally at the moment their physical bodies died. Sidhe called this mysterious world the World of the spirits or the Ghost world.
Later great magic scientist comprehended the nature of this phenomenon. They learnt, the mysterious place sidhe got to after their death was one of the countless parallel worlds. Magicians could prove that the Ghost world was not just very close to the usual world of W.E.L.L, it was a latent part of it. With time some sidhe must not die to get into the Ghost world, they learnt to slip there practicing deep meditations. Traveling as ghosts they found life in this strange world that existed according to its own rules.
Later magicians of other races, especially zwergs and humans learnt to enter the Ghost world as well. But to no one this place was as available as to the newcomers in the W.E.L.L. world. - the players.
The image of the Ghost world at the screen differs from the image of the world of the living due to a special post-effect. Besides, the appearance of locations and objects may not be identical with the image of respective objects in the world of the living. No object of the Ghost world is visible or available to the living, but some of the objects from the real world may be visible or available for the ghosts.
Ghost objects are in a way produced by fancy of the dead. Actually there are no objects in the Ghost world, but sometimes conglomerations of energy may take intricate shapes and acquire special qualities that may be useful to the ghosts of the "living" characters. The living make up the shapes of these objects after the image of objects they know. The energy of such objects is wasted soon and they disintegrate - disappear. But as long as they are in possession of a ghost they are kept together by his will.
There are objects that have a counterpart (shadow) in the ghost world. Such objects exist in the ghost world so far their real counterpart exists in the real world. One can meet ghosts of other characters or NPCs in the Ghost world one. The latter may be either peaceful or aggressive.
Ghost Portal
Ghost portal is a passage that connects the world of the living and the world of the ghosts. The way is always opened, but one needs a lot of strength to walk it. At the moment a character dies a lot of energy comes free and the passage to the Ghost world occurs automatically. Still the ghost of the perished can not stay on the side for a long time. Springs of live-giving water collect his energy, recover his physical body and draw his spirit back through the portal to the world of the living.
In the Ghost world the player always sees the portal. It appears to the ghost distantly and is visible through all the objects of the both worlds of the dead and the living.
From outside the portal looks like a shimmering funnel, facing the ghost of the dead with its wider part. The portal moves closer and closer to the character and when it reaches him, the ghost passes to the world of the living.
The player needn't to wait until the funnel reaches him. If he doesn't want his character to stay in the Ghost world he may speed up the process of resurrection. Staying in the Ghost world demands certain energy, depending on the mass of character's personality (development level). Spending or recovering of energy makes the portal come closer or remove from the ghost. As soon as the powers of the ghost are exhausted, the portal comes close and swallows him, the character resurrects in a well.
In the Ghost world the player can move freely, interact with other ghost characters and NPCs, and acquire objects in various ways (quests, change, looting NPCs etc.) Players, whose characters stay in the ghost world can freely communicate with each other as well as with the characters in the world of the living using a group or a clan chat channel or using a personal channel, provided the characters they intend to contact are affected the way they can understand ghosts. Still every action has its price in the Ghost world.
Personal mass
With the increase of personal experience (the time spent in the W.E.L.L. world, skill development, etc.) every citizen on the planet gains the so-called personal mass. Personal mass, unnoticeably to the user, affects all aspects of his/her character’s life in the world of W.E.L.L.
For instance, personal mass determines the supply of energy, which we mentioned before. The more mass a character has, the longer he/she will be able to stay in the Ghostly world. As you know the very being in the world of the dead takes up a lot of user’s energy; even more energy is needed to perform any actions in this mysterious world.
The creatures inhabiting the Ghostly world see their prey as a bundle of the described energy, which they are aspiring to get no matter the price. This is why they regularly attack the user and try to deprive him of this energy.
On the other hand, if a user decides to spend a relatively long time in the Ghostly world, he/she should remember that from a certain moment his/her body starts to recover in the reservoirs of recovery in the real world. And here is the most interesting part: while recovering in the real world, the character’s body will be passing life energy (life points) to its ghost! And if a user looses these points in the Ghostly world, right after recovery it will take a great deal of time and effort to revive them – simple regeneration and uncomplicated spells won’t help.
